On November 17, 2009, Ridin' on Faith suffered an enormous loss, priceless actually. 'Glory', the black & white, was found dead in the outdoor arena at 6:50 AM. She died overnight of colic. Glory & Ritzee were best friends & perfect partners in the different trails that Ridin' on Faith has been on over the years.
Glory had barely been handled, not even knowing what 'whoa' meant when Michele bought her. But, she made the training process easy, submitting to Michele's every request & giving her every effort to learn. In no time she was ponying off of Ritzee & before long, we were riding her with never ever so much as a hint of a crow hop let alone a buck!!
During the years of giving lessons she gently carried the very youngest of riders. There was never a student or visitor who didn't love her. Glory was always the same, steadfast, calm 'giver' day after day.
Her faithfulness gave credit to her name "Glory".
Michele's youngest son, Devin, was particularly close to her. He stayed home from school to help lay her to rest in the horse pasture where they loved to run & graze. He made her a cross with her name wood-burned on it. He also chose a scripture to write on it:
1 Thess. 2:20 "For you are our Glory and joy - NKJV.
Actually, the reference of this scripture is Paul explaining that in his ministry the ultimate reward is to see people become believers & these Thesselonian believers & him will one day stand before our Lord Jesus and they will be his glory & joy.
In Ridin' on Faith, the Lord used Glory in His ministry to touch lives, change hearts & spread joy.
Until we stand together before our Lord Jesus, (in memory) vs. 20
For you are our Glory and joy. |
